PALATABILITY
Taste acceptance, and palatability at administering oral drug products is an important aspect, contributing to the patient’ therapy compliance.
Orally administered drug products with an acceptable degree of palatability is important for patients in general and their health care providers, especially for those who care for pediatric patients.
Still, several oral drug products remain available with unpleasant and/or bitter taste properties, which unnecessarily may lead a patient towards interruption of therapies.
TASTE MASKING
Any drug product formulation with a more pleasant taste would translate into better compliance and therapeutic value for the patient and consequently, in the end, to more business for the product owner company.
The ongoing demand of improved palatability has urged us to develop our Taste Masking Technology.
Our Taste Masking Technology is based on the application of a specific complex of uncoated flavor masking agents and viscosity enhancing agents in a proprietary process.
FLAVORITE
FlavoRiTe aims to provide taste masking for unpleasant taste accents in two subsequent phases after administration of the liquid or solid dosage forms, e.g. the onset and after-taste.
It utilizes a Flavor-accent-fitted extension process that is custom-made to interrelate with the negative taste characteristics of the drug.
Then, the process is further enhanced with the proper selection of flavoring agents to achieve optimal taste performance.
The Technology.
Our technology is suitable for integration in various solid and aqueous or lipids based oral dosage forms and as a custom-made alternative for current branded and/or generic oral solid or liquid products (solutions- suspensions). It can also be applied in product development for new applications.
Pharmaceutical grade GRAS.
The basic synergetic taste masking process can additionally be supported by the application of viscosity enhancing agents to more increase taste perception and mouth feel. FlavoRiTe aims to provide taste masking for unpleasant (bitter) taste accents in two subsequent phases after administration of oral liquid or solid dosage forms, e.g. the onset and after-taste.
The technology exists as a platform technology which is suitable for custom-made product development or product improvement of existing products and is applied with Pharmaceutical grade GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) excipients.
Our Taste Masking Technology is particularly suitable in combination with ForTe proprietary Dry-Powder Technology and can be utilized as an extemporaneously applied technology, thus leaving existing registrations untouched.
The FlavoRiTe technology is economically applicable in any conventional cGMP Pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and does not require additional investments in technology specific equipment.
The FlavoRiTe technology is applied to custom-made improve branded and generic oral solid or liquid dosage forms and is also applied for innovator product development.
The combined FlavoRiTe/DPS technology is designed as a platform technology for development of single/multi dosed powders for aqueous reconstitution of suspension or solution products and is economically applicable in any conventional cGMP Pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
